HYDROPONICS LAB

Our school has a wonderful Hydroponics Lab run by Mrs. Cisario. So many great things are sprouting up in her lab! Our students are so excited to be a part of the entire process from seed to plant.

Harvest Day

Today was a big day in Room 339! Ms. Gelzer's class harvested their lettuce plants to make a salad. We learned about food prep safety as well. We gathered the mature plants, rinsed the leaves, used a salad spinner and then indulged in our meal! A great time was had by all!

Thank you Principal Barnum for joining us. We can't wait for the next harvest! Stay tuned for more invites to their new " restaurant"!

What We Do

Elementary School

We create Kratky Hydroponic jars to grow lettuce which we harvest to create healthy eating habits.

Middle School

The 7th grade Green Team built the vining crop growing system VCS, which consists of an enlarged hydroponic bucket, a fan, and fan and lighting system that works on a timer.  Students are growing cucumbers and loofahs. Since both of these plants grow upwards on vines this is the perfect growing system for them. Students also learned how to measure the nutrient levels in the water to create a balanced environment.
